I have known Mick and Dave most of my life, going to the same school as them and Sea Cadet Unit. Mick was my sea daddy all of my naval career and most of my life.

Just after their move to Aylsham Lodge in Canterbury, I rang him to see how he was getting on. He glumly informed me that he was taking the chimney breast out and the work had to stop because the builders had found a skeleton behind the fireplace. I sympathised with him and he continued to inform me that there was a medal amongst the bones, drawing me into his tale. Oh yes says I, was there any clue to the identity of the person ? Yes says he, it was inscribed with the words ‘Winner of the 1894 Barnham hide and seek championship’ !
He proceeded to howl with laughter and added another “Ey-ore” moment to my collection
